Bucket List, My Friends?

Bucket List photo1

Do you have a bucket list?  I do, and I’ll share a few from my list, if you share a few back.  Deal?  Great!

One of my favorite items is one that’s been getting me in trouble for many years now:  to drive a race car—any color, any style, and the one pictured would be sweet.

So, it might come as no surprise that I’ve been pulled over a few times. (At least I can say under ten times…well, barely, but at least I can say it.) The problem is that I get on these fabulous highways that are perfect race car conditions: you know the ones—long stretches with hills and corners that bank just right… ahh… what a feeling.

A short while back, I was enjoying my favorite canyon in eastern Washington (with those perfect conditions), and was telling my awesome mom that driving a race car was on my bucket list; when we were abruptly interrupted and I had to pull over to the side of the road.

Fortunately, the Trooper involved was nice and tried not to smile when I explained why I was still in race car mode when the speed limit dropped suddenly to 35 M.P.H.  (Thank you, Lord, for Your grace!)

Back on the road, I did the sensible thing (ugh), and set the cruise control. Then Mom and I talked about following our callings instead – our most important bucket list items.

And what about your calling?  If you’re not following it yet, you could add it to your bucket list!  At the top would be best, your calling deserves that, it’s that important.  And for most of us, it’s the one item that scares us the most. And that’s okay.  But don’t let fear stop you from pursuing it.

Speed doesn’t scare me (maybe it should), but hiking with bears and public speaking sure does.  Writing and speaking is my calling, but the speaking part turns my legs to Jell-O, and makes me want to faint… and it’s so worth it!

So, be brave, my friend.  Follow your calling, add it to your bucket list, and when in doubt, remember that God has a plan for your life, and with Him nothing is impossible.

It’s your turn now.  What’s on your list?

    Good morning!

So I have put a lot of thought into this (Bucket List )… I will start with the minor hopes of happening.

As a youngster I was blessed enough to watch my Aunt and Uncle abandon a perfectly good airplane at so many thousands of feet,to then dive bomb to a specific altitude before opening their chute. I could only imagine how it felt to soar like a bird! I think I was about 7 years old then, and the thought of sky diving is still in my MUST HAVES.

I would love to own a little piece of land on top of a mountain peak, somewhere in the Rockies . Build a little log cabin out of the resources of the land like our ancestors may have done. Close to a creek with a natural spring. Could you imagine sitting on the porch, and listening to the sounds of birds talking to one another, the wind blowing through the trees, the calm water pouring from the spring to then form its path down the hill side? How about the first snow fall-to witness the land that was once green and yellows, and would now have a slight tint of white. To be able to love and appreciate the Earth as it was before all the hi tech stuff. To not have any cares of this fast pace life that we live in today. This would be perfect harmony in my life. God is an amazing creator.

Well that’s a start.;) Love you Mom.

    • This is absolutely beautiful, Keith! So… one item on bucket list checked. What’s next for you? Hope it includes some writing and photography. 🙂 Love you always & forever!
